Q. What is NTTI?

A. NTTI stands for the National Teacher Training Institute. The Institute is dedicated to helping teachers learn how to harness the power of technology and use it in their classrooms. At the Institute the presenters are classroom teachers that share their knowledge with the attendees. Teachers helping teachers is a powerful technique.

 

Q. Can attendance at NTTI be used for recertification?

A. Upon completion of NTTI attendees receive a certificate that recommends they receive 21 recertification points.

 

Q. Is there a cost for the Institute?

A. 150 seats at the Institute are funded by a grant from the Shenandoah Valley Technology Consortium Ed Tech Grant and are reserved for teachers from SVTC schools. There are 30 open seats that are available on a first come first served basis. There is a $200 registration fee for an open seat.

 

Q. Is there still a technology incentive for teachers that attend under the SVTC Ed Tech Grant?

A. Yes, SVTC teachers that attend under the grant are eligible for the technology incentive.

 

Q. What must I do to receive the technology incentive?

A. To receive the technology incentive a teacher must be sponsored by an SVTC school division, attend the entire 3 day NTTI, attend sessions at NTTI on the equipment, attend designated follow-up trainings, and create an artifact that demonstrates proper technology integration.

 

Q. How do I know if I am an SVTC Ed Tech Grant teacher?

A. You are an SVTC Ed Tech Grant teacher if you hold a teaching position in a school division that is a member of the grant Consortium. A listing of member school divisions can be found at www.svtc-edtech.org. Look under consortium members.

 

Q. If I just want to attend NTTI and not receive the technology incentive will the SVTC Ed Tech Grant fund my attendance?

A. No, the purpose of the grant is to encourage the adoption of technology into the classroom so the seat and the technology incentive are a package.

 

Q. How do I apply for a grant funded seat?

A. To apply for a grant funded seat download and fill out the application then submit it to your school division’s SVTC Ed Tech Grant contact.

 

Q. How do I find out who my SVTC Ed Tech Grant contact is?

A. A listing of school division’s contacts can be found at www.svtc-edtech.org. Look under consortium members.

 

Q. If I apply for an open seat when is my registration fee due?

A. Your registration fee is due once you have been notified of your acceptance. Do not send you registration fee prior to receiving your acceptance. Payment is to be made to WVPT.
